How to Allow Cracked Clients on Your Minecraft Server (Disable Online Mode)

⚠ Important Warning

Disabling online-mode allows players without a premium Minecraft account to join. This reduces security and allows name spoofing unless you install proper protection plugins.

By default, Minecraft servers verify accounts with Mojang/Microsoft. This setting is called online-mode. To allow cracked (non-premium) clients, you must set:

online-mode=false

Step 1 — Open Properties in the Panel

In your server panel, go to:
Configuration → Properties

Minecraft server panel sidebar showing Properties selected
Open the Properties tab.

Step 2 — Search for online-mode

Use the search bar and type online-mode. You will see a toggle with the current value set to true.

online-mode toggle set to true in server properties
Set online-mode to false.

Step 3 — Toggle to False and Save

  1. Switch the toggle OFF (so it becomes false)
  2. Click Save
  3. Restart your server

Changes only apply after a full server restart.

Recommended Security (Very Important)

When running in offline mode, anyone can join with any username. To protect your server:

  • Install AuthMe Reloaded (for Spigot/Paper)
  • Force players to register with a password
  • Enable IP limits
  • Use anti-bot protection if public

⚡ Performance Note

Disabling online-mode does not improve performance. It only disables Mojang authentication checks.

Done! Players Can Now Join

After restart, cracked clients can connect normally using:
IP:PORT
